[she jerks back, lifting her head from her knees, when she hears her name, and for a moment she just sort of stares at him with an absolutely exhausted expression, the depths of her irises completely devoid of any life or emotion. . .]

[she pulls back, brushing a few strands of her banks from her eyes]

I'm not really a big fan of illusions, but it seems like someone on this island is. Probably the Chiefs.

Myself, being chased across the beach by a man made out of nothing but chocolate! He was at least ten feet tall, I say!

[she's deflecting]

Nope. It's a pretty rare treat usually reserved for those with the good fortune to afford it. But it is a rather luxurious sweet when you can get your hands on it.
