[WEEK 2, WEDNESDAY SOMETIME: Lucina and Akira]
[at some point!! on Wednesday!! Magilou is going to drag Akira and Lucina to the beach for ~rehearsal~. the whole performance with Laphicet had been lackluster because she had relied on improv and improv only, so she wouldn't make that mistake twice!! she'd drill the fundamentals of comedy into both of her new employees' heads if it took alllll evening]
[when they arrive, Magilou hands each one of them a piece of paper torn out of her handy dandy journal]
Here you go! ☆ Make sure you sign on the dotted line. It's a liability waiver.
[. . . the only thing on the paper is a crudely drawn picture of this thing]
[there is no dotted line]

I wouldn't phrase it like that, but it'd definitely get a few hearty chuckles from the audience, so I can't say no either.
And that is slapstick comedy!
no subject
[ ???
Does she, though. ]
I don't think that would be my preference, if I was your audience. It seems unnecessarily mean-spirited.
no subject
[akira's not really big on slapstick either, it's fine.]
no subject
Fine, fine. . . then let's try puns and wordplay next. I bet you'd both be very good at that.
no subject
[ Spoiler: she is going to love puns.
God help them all. ]
no subject
We'll help you punderstand them, Lucina.

[except for Aly]
I think you'll sea what I mean once we get started! After all, I'd rather share all of my wordplay secrets with fronds instead of anemones.
no subject
[ Fronds?
She doesn't understand. ]
I don't understand.
no subject
[he gets it, but this is her job. he's not explaining puns.]
no subject
[okay fiiiine]
"Fronds" sounds like "friends," and "anemones" sounds like "enemies." That's the essence of puns and wordplay. You replace a word with a similar sounding word in your sentence. The possibilities are endless!

[ She's going to do it. She's going to pun!!
Any second now.
The pause continues... ]
Um.
[ And continues... ]
Please - please salmon the Chief!
[ She's so proud of herself. ]
no subject
well.
it's amusing, though probably not for the right reasons.]
no subject
Well, it isn't bad. You can do a little better, though.
no subject
She worked really hard on that! ]
Oh... Yes. Of course. What would you suggest?
no subject
[defers to magilou once again, because it's fun to watch her deal with this, honestly.]
no subject
We're on the beach, so our puns should be beach and-or ocean themed. Why don't we try something simple. . .
Make a pun out of the word "water."
no subject
[ Silence.
Si...lence...
??? ]
Water...
[ Loading. . .
Loading. . .
Loading. . . . . ]
—I'm sorry, I'm not sure how.
[ She's disgraced her family. :( ]
no subject
[he'll give her some examples to work with.]
no subject
[claps her hands together, but stays quiet, letting Akira take over the lesson for a bit]
no subject
[ Her brow furrows as she tries to work through this. ]
Water... water... oh!
[ GET READY GUYS ]
I realise this may be a shallow attempt [ get it ] but water [ get it ] you think about it?
no subject
[so. better than her first attempt, at least. she seems to be having fun with it though, so it's fine.]
no subject
That one was so good, Lucina, I'll have to confishscate your pun license for it!
no subject
[ She looks so pleased with herself. ]
I understand what you did, just now.
