Sometimes you don't know what'll work until you give it a try. It just so happens that most people are a little too afraid to take that leap of faith.

I am not sure. I would hope that signals the end of the game, but from what I recall, Hal spoke very noncommittally on what such conditions were beyond our complete massacre.

I imagine it depends on what, exactly, the purpose these murders serve.

[He glances to the side, recalling the Rithmere Games (and the Shadow Arena, though he had thankfully never been a participant). His tone is bitter.]

I would not be surprised if it truly were for entertainment alone—though if that is the sole reason, that may not help us to predict how the Chiefs may run this game.

[she nods. they've been over that one before. . . trying to predict who the Chiefs would choose for roles is a nightmare when one doesn't know their entire motivations. she doesn't try to breach that topic again, instead keeping straight to game mechanics]

If the purposes is just entertainment, then it would make sense that killing everyone with such a role would end this entire charade.

But if the purpose is something much deeper-- such as the killing roles being necessary to eliminate a far more dangerous role-- then perhaps the game wouldn't end if they were all dead.

[BUT AGAIN. . .]

It's still too early to say, of course. This is the part I hate the most.

... That is cause for concern as well. It seems like something the Chiefs would do—obscure a threat with another one. What could this other role be, though, if it exists?

[He sighs.]

I am beginning to wish I had a role, if only to perhaps have more information!

At least then I could laugh to myself about how none of the island fools know better while drinking my mai tai.
